Mike Maignan was born on 3rd July 1995 to a Haitian mother and a French father. As a child, Maignan was not good at football. He hated the sport whenever the TV channel was switched to a match. On his 5th birthday, he got a foam balloon as a gift. He played with it and broke a few things in the house. At the end of the day, Mike decided it was his dream to became a professional footballer.
He began training with JS Villiers le Bel as an outfield player under his first coach, Romain Damiano. He’s spent 6 years developing his skills as a goalkeeper. He was then scouted by Paris Saint Germaine and was asked to improve his academics. Maignan developed his skills and rose through the club’s rank which landed him on his first team in 2013.

Career
In 2012, Mike captained the U-17 team at the European Championship, Slovenia. In 2013, Maignan participated in the 2013-14 UEFA Youth League and led his team to the quarterfinals only to be defeated by Madrid. In June, he signed his first professional contract with PSG. In 2014, he made his Ligue 1 debut and won the match against Nantes. In 2015, Maignan transferred to Lille and made his professional debut on 18th September.
In the 2017-18 season, Mike became the starter for Lille and continued playing as the team ended the 2018-19 season with the runner-up. He was elected Goalkeeper of the year in the Trophees UNFP du football that year. He received his first call-up in 2019 for the 2020 YEFA Euro qualifiers. In 2020-21, his team won the Ligue 1 title defeating his former club PSG. In 2021, Maignan signed with Italian Serie A club AC Milan.
