Birth and Early Life
Varun was born on 29 August 1991, in Bidar, Karnataka, India. He started playing cricket with tennis balls at an early age, and later shifted to leather balls. He used to pose as a wicketkeeper but he decided to quit cricket and started studying architecture.
After completing his degree, he worked as a freelance architect and played cricket in the meantime. He later left his job to play cricket.

Career
He started playing cricket as a fast bowler at Chennai’s CromBest cricket club but injured himself. After overcoming his injury he started playing for IV Division in Chennai league at Jubilee Cricket Club.
- Domestic career-
Varun made his List A debut for Tamil Nadu on 20 December 2018. He performed exceptionally in debut and became the leading wicket-taker with twenty-two wickets. He made his first-class debut for Tamil Nadu, in the Ranji Trophy on 12 November 2018.
Varun was roped in by Kings XI Punjab in December 2018 at a high price. He made the highest run by any bowler in a debut match in 2019. He was dropped by Punjab ahead of 2020 and he was roped in by Kolkata knight riders, he scored a five-wicket haul against Delhi Capitals.
- International career–
In 2020 he was selected in T20 international against Australia, but due to injury, he couldn’t perform well. He was again selected for this year’s T20 international squad against England in February.
On Day 10 June 2021, BCCI announced India’s 19 men’s squad for ODI & T20I series against Sri Lanka, In this, Indian Team Squad Varun was selected. But he was not selected for the ODI team. He was selected in T20 playing Eleven of the Indian team for the T20 series against Sri Lanka. He made his T20 International debut on July 25, 2021, against Sri Lanka, In his debut match, he took 1 wicket in 4 over and he bowled very well.
Currently, he was selected in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2021.
