Ravichandran Ashwin was born on September 17, 1986, in Tamil Nadu, India. He lived in Mambalam, Chennai, his father used to play club-level cricket as a fast bowler. He did his schooling at Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan and St. Bede’s. Later he studied at SSN college of engineering.

Career
- Domestic career-
R Ashwin started as an opening batsman but he didn’t receive any success as one so he switched to being an off-spinner. He made his first-class debut in 2006 for Tamil Nadu and captained his team that season. But he didn’t garner attention until he was selected to play for Chennai Super Kings in IPL auctions in 2009. Then after a two years ban on CSK in 2016, he was selected by Rising Pune Supergiant. In 2018, he was not restored by Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab bought him for INR 7.6 crore.

Ashwin’s amazing performance in 2010 IPL bagged him an ODI debut against Srilanka on 5 June 2010. He performed satisfactorily in his debut match. In October he was again selected to play a three-match ODI against Australia. He again didn’t disappoint the selectors with his performance.
His test debut was on 6 November 2011 against West Indies in Delhi, he bowled exceptionally well in his debut match. Ashwin became the third Indian player to win this award on his debut and to score a century as well as a five-wicket haul. In 2012, Ashwin became the fastest Indian to collect 50 wickets in a Test series against England. His career shaped in March 2013, when he took 23 wickets, the most number of wickets by an Indian bowler in four test match series.
