Birth and Early life

Anil Kumble was born on 17 October 1970 in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. His family hails from Kasaragod, Kerala, India. He did his primary schooling from Holy Saint English School, and high schooling from National High School Basavanagudi.

Initially his craze for cricket began on the streets of Bangalore and joined “Young Cricketers” club at the age of 13. He graduated in B.E from Rashtreeya Vidyalaya College of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering.

Career-

Domestic career-

Anil Kumble made his first-class debut on 30 November 1989, for Karnataka against Hyderabad. He was selected to play for India’s Under-19s against Pakistan and he scored a lot of runs. Kumble announced his retirement from all forms of cricket before his IPL mentorship debut in 2011. Under his mentorship Bangalore reached runner up position. 

International career

He made his ODI debut against Srilanka on 25 April 1990, in the Austral Asia Cup. In the game against Pakistan and ended up with two wickets. He made his test debut the same year when India toured England. His amazing performance in the Irani trophy, helped him score a place in the India side that toured South Africa and Zimbabwe. 

Kumble took 50 wickets in 10 matches and became the fastest Indian bowler to do so until Ravichandran Ashwin surpassed him. His 100 test wickets in 21 matches became the fastest after Erapalli Prasanna ( who took 100 wickets in 20 matches). In January 1994, Kumble took his first 10 wicket haul in the 14th match in the Sri Lanka tour of India. 

On 17 January 2008, in the third test against Australia at WACA, Perth, Kumble became the first Indian bowler and third in the world to reach the milestone of 600 test wickets. He announced his retirement from international cricket, first class cricket and list A cricket on 2 November 2008.
