Birth & Early Life
Devendra was born on 10th June 1981 in Rajasthan, India. At the age of eight, he had to get his left hand amputated due to s serious injury sustained due to electrocution. In 1997, he got spotted by RD Singh while competing for his school sports day. RD Singh trained Devendra to prepare him for professional competitions.

Career
In 2002, Devendra competed in the 8th FESPIC Games, South Korea, and won the gold medal, In 2004, he competed in his first Summer Paralympic Games, Athens, and set a new world record, throwing at a distance of 62.15m. He clinched the gold medal and became the second Paralympic gold medalist from India.
In 2013, Devendra competed in the Javelin throw at the IPC Athletics World Championship, France, and bagged the gold medal. In the following year, he won a silver medal at the 2014 Asian Para Games, South Korea. In 2015, Jhajhria claimed the silver medal at the IPC Athletics World Championship, Doha. In 2016, he won the gold medal at the IPC Athletics Asia-Oceania Championship, Dubai. In the same year, he bagged the gold medal at the Summer Paralympics, Rio de Janeiro. He threw her career-best 63.97m at that event. In 2020, he got selected to compete in the Tokyo Paralympics 2020 that is to be conducted in 2021.
