Akers started his career while playing for Clinton High School, Mississippi. In high school, he played quarterback and running back for football team. As senior, Akers appeared in 12 games and recorded 2,105 rushing yards with 34 touchdowns. In his high schooling career, Akers was selected for MS Gatorade Player of the Year. He was enrolled in Florida State University for college football.
College Football
Akers started his college football career while playing for Florida State. In 2017 as true freshman, Akers appeared in 13 games and recorded 1,025 yards in 2017 Independence Bowl. He was appeared in three seasons for Florida State and recorded 2,875 rushing yards with 27 touchdowns while appearing in 36 games. In end of 2019 season Akers announced that, he is entering in 2020 NFL Drafts.

Akers signed with Los Angeles Rams in 2020 NFL Drafts. In that season, he appeared in 13 games with 5 starts and recorded 625 yards with 2 touchdowns.
