Marcus Thuram was born on 6th August 1997 in Parma, Italy to Sandra and Lilian Thuram. His father was a former professional football player of the France national team. His parents were divorced in 2009 but maintained a cordial relationship for the sake of their children. Under Lilian’s guidance, both Marcus and Khephren started playing football at a young age. Marcus started his youth career at the age of 10.

Career
He played in the Olympique de Neuilly for 4 years from 2007 to 2010. He then joined the AC Boulogne- Billancourt and played for the club from 2010- 2012. In 2012, he joined Sochaux. He made his senior debut with the club on 20th March 2015.
In 2016, Thuram was a member of the France U-19 and won the title in the UEFA European Championship. In 2017, he joined Guingamp after playing 43 matches for Sochaux. He was brought to the limelight after his game against Paris Saint-Germaine goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, a former teammate of his father at Parma. After playing for two years with the club he signed a 4-year contract with Borussia Monchengladbach in 2019. He made his debut with the club on 9th August in the DFB-Pokal. In 2020, he score twice in his winning game against FC Union Berlin.
In 2020 Thuram scored 2 goals in a match against Real Madrid at the UEFA Champions League. The match ended with a draw. In the same year, he was placed on a six-match ban and a fine for misconduct on the ground. In the same year, he received his first senior call-up for the France team. He made his debut on 11th November in a match against Finns. He was selected to play for the UEFA Euro 2020 which was held in May 2021.
