Sandeep was born on 4 April 1991, in Thrissur, Kerala, India. He started playing cricket in school, but he only played for lower levels in the school. He initially wanted to pursue engineering as his career but stopped because his passion for cricket made him dropout of the college.

Career
- Domestic career-
Sandeep started playing for Kerala in 2012. He became the leading wicket-taker in the 2018-19 Ranji trophy, with a high number of dismissals. He was also the leading wicket-taker in the Ranji Trophy with an impressive amount of dismissals to his name.
Sandeep took a hat-trick in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2019.
Because of his exceptional performance, he was named in India’s Red team squad for the 2019-20 Duleep trophy. In October 2019, he was named in India’s A squad for the 2019-20 Deodhar Trophy. In August 2018, he was one of the five players that were suspended for three games 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy after showing dissent against Kerala’s captain Sachin Baby.
Due to his exemplary performance he was signed in 2013, two months after his Ranji trophy debut for Kerala by Royal Challengers Bangalore. However he was released by the team in 2015, he was benched on all three seasons.
Being unsold for so many days he was selected by Kolkata knight riders just ten days prior to 2019 Indian premier league.
