Ishant Sharma was born on 2 September 1988, in Delhi, India. He left his studies after class 10th and started focusing only on cricket. His cricket career began at the age of 14, when he debuted for the Ranji trophy.

Career
- Domestic career-
Ishant Sharma made his Ranji Trophy debut for Delhi at the young age of 18, he rapidly became the talk of the town as he climbed the stairs to success. He toured England for India under-19s in 2006 and against Pakistan in 2006-07. His performance in three youth tests and six youth one-day internationals for India grabbed the needed attention of selectors and he was selected to play for the senior Indian team.
Ishant debuted in the Indian premier league for Kolkata knight riders in 2008, since then he has switched many IPL franchises. He has played for Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rising Pune Supergiant, Kings XI Punjab, and his home team Delhi Capitals. His constant team changing clearly highlights that he was never a cutout for the format.
- International career
In 2007, he was selected for the test team against Bangladesh as a replacement of Munaf Patel. He performed exceptionally well in his debut match. His performance remained spectacular in 2008, but his form saw a dip after that. But he made a comeback in 2011 and scored spectacularly well, his performance included two five wicket hauls against West Indies.
Sharma made his ODI debut against South Africa on 27 June 2007, he took an impressive amount of wickets and became the highest wicket taker. However due to many injuries, he was not able to participate in the many ODIs. His last ODI was in 2016.
