Birth and Early life
Dinesh Karthik was born on 1st June 1985 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He spent a couple of years of his childhood in Kuwait where his father used to work. His schooling was from Fahaheel Al-Watanieh Indian Private School which is under Delhi public school. He got his first cricket lesson from his father who opted for a more secure job than playing cricket.

Career
- Domestic career-
Dinesh Karthik started playing cricket under the guidance of his father and he initially played in youth teams, later he played for under 14s in 1999. The next year, he was selected in under-19s and made his first class debut the next year. Karthik became a part of Ranji Trophy team in 2003-04, he played wonderfully and scored two centuries one in final and one in semifinals.
His performance helped him in his selection in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2004. In the seasons 2008-09 and 2009-10, he gave wonderful performances that led to him being made captain of Tamil Nadu cricket team.
He was selected by Delhi Capitals in 2008 IPL season and then in 2011, he was bought by Kings XI Punjab for $9 million. Till now he has played for a number of IPL franchises like Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Lions and Kolkata knight riders.
- International career
Karthik made his Test debut in 2004 but didn’t perform well as a result he didn’t get to play for the team until 2007, he was given a chance as an opener due to other players’ poor performances. His performances weren’t great; he kept going in and out of the team.
He made his ODI debut in the same year against England and was also selected for the Inaugural ICC World Twenty20 and for the 2013 ICC Championship trophy. 2018 Nidahas trophy final is the most celebrated moment of his life and helped India win the series by hitting a six on the last ball.
