Cheteshwar Pujara was born on 25 January 1988 in Rajkot, Gujarat, India. His father and uncle both have been Ranji trophy players that inspired him to play the game. His mother passed away when he was 17 years old in 2005.

Career
- Domestic career-
Pujara made his Under-19 debut in 2005, against England, he scored a tremendous amount of runs to make India win. He was also picked up by the 2006 World Cup, after scoring three fifties in Asia World Cup. He became the highest run-scorer in the tournament and won the man of the match award.
Pujara gave a brilliant performance against Madhya Pradesh for Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium at Rajkot. His performance made Saurashtra qualify for the 2012-13 Ranji Trophy quarter-finals. In 2013, he became the ninth batsman to score three triple centuries in first class. He has so far played exemplarily for his domestic team Saurashtra, scoring to the point when others didn’t do so.
He became the leading run-scorer for his domestic team in the year 2017-18, helping his team to proceed into the third final in six years. In Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy that season, he scored his maiden T20 century. He became the first Saurashtra batsman to do so.
Pujara was selected by Kolkata knight riders and played the first three seasons for them. In 2011, he was roped in by Royal Challengers Bangalore but because of his injury, he stayed out the whole year. He became Virendra Sehwag’s partner opener in 2014, and his average performance made the selectors skip him in 2015.
International career
Pujara made his test debut on 9 October 2010, he didn’t perform well in his debut match. But in the second match of the tournament, he performed exceptionally well. In August 2012, he made a comeback and scored his first-ever test century.
He was selected for playing test matches against England, his performance was incredible in the first match and he continued to do so in other matches as well. Pujara became the second highest run scorer after the England Captain Alastair Cook. He also became the second fastest cricketer to get 1000 test runs. Because of his amazing performance he was selected for ODI against England.
His hundred streak never stopped while his colleagues failed to impress the selectors. He silenced all his critics and badmouths with his amazing play.
