Birth & Early Life
Wiggins was born on 23rd February 1995 in Toronto Ontario. He is the son of former NBA player Mitchell Wiggins and former Olympic track and field sprinter Marita Payne-Wiggins. Wiggins started playing basketball at the age of 9. He joined an under 10 team and played at the Dufferin Clark Community Centre, Vaughan.
Wiggins attended the first two years of high school in Vaughan Secondary School where he led the AAAA basketball team to victory in the Ontario Provincial Championship. In 2011, he transferred to Huntington Prep School, West Virginia. He was ranked number one high school basketball player in SLAM magazine. In 2013, he joined Kansas University and played for the Kansas team. In 2014, he was named a top 25 Finalist for the John R. Wooden Men’s Player of the Year award.

Career
Wiggins played in the 2010 FIBA U-17 World Championship and 2012 FIBA Americans U-18 Championship. His team claimed the bronze medal in both tournaments. In 2015, he was named to the Canadian national team for the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship. He helped Canada win the bronze medal and was named All-Tournament Team.
Wiggins was named for the 2014 NBA draft. He got scouted by Cleveland Cavaliers but got traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves. In his NBA debut on October 29, 2014, he earned the Western Conference Rookie of the Month Honours for the first two months of the season. He also won the Rising Stars Challenge MVP after his win over Team USA. He was also named NBA Rookie of the Year for the 2014-15 season.
In the 2015- 16 season, Andrew scored a career-high 35 points. In the 2016-17 season, he hit a career-best 40 points. Wiggins extended his contract with the Wolves and became the sixth youngest player to reach the plateau in the 2017-18 season. In the 2018-19 season, He scored a season-high 40 points and 10 rebounds. In the 2019-20 season, Andrew achieved his first triple-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists. He was traded to the Golden State Warriors In 2020.
