Career
- Domestic career-
Riyan made his T20 debut for Assam domestic cricket team. He played for the inter-state T20 tournament on 29 January 2017. After his awesome debut, he was also named in India’s squad. This time he played ACC Under-19 Asia Cup in 2017. Then he played in Ranji Trophy on 17th November 2017.
Then in the year 2017, Riyan was selected for the under 19 Cricket World Cup. His performance earned him the title of leading run-scorer for the Assam team. He scored 248 runs in just seven matches during the Vijay Hazare Cup.
After this performance, he was acknowledged by the selectors. And he got an IPL contract. Rajasthan Royals bought him for the IPL 2019. This young player became the first youngest individual to score fifty in IPL history. At this time he was just 17 years and 175 days old. He broke the record of Sanju Samson who achieved this feat at the age of 18 years and 169 days.
Riyan played two test matches against England and these matches were recorded in the history of cricket. He was just 15 years old and scored three centuries including the fifties in both innings of the unofficial test series.
