Birth & Early life
Vijay Kumar Yadav has started his training at the age of seven in wrestling at training Center Lalpur, Varanasi. The training Centre was 22km far from his house. Sometimes he take lift to reach training Centre or used to travel by cycle. After some time he continued his training at Gorakhpur. In 2008, Naresh Yadav invited him to join the sports academy in Saharanpur and suggested Vijay to start his training in judo. After some time he moved to the hostel of Sports Authority India Centre in Lucknow. Vijay has faced many problem when he was young, his family condition was not good, his elder brother got job in Indian Army, and another brother is a bus driver.
Career
Vijay started his career by wining silver medal in Asian U17 Championship (2012). After that he participated in Asian U18 Championship (2013) and won bronze medal. In 2014, he continued won two bronze medal in Indian Championship, Himachal Pradesh. He also won gold medal in same year in India U21 Championship Shillong.
In 2015, Vijay was the part of National Games of India, Kerala, and he won silver medal. Then he took rest in 2016. After that in 2017 he was the part of India Championships, Chennai and won the Gold medal. In 2018 he qualified in Commonwealth Games, Jaipur in 2018 and won the gold medal. After that in 2019 he has won 4 medals two gold medal, one silver medal and one bronze medal. In 2022 he was won bronze medal in Commonwealth Games.
