Jalaj Saxena was born on 15 December 1986, in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, India. He initially wanted to become a swimmer but he was allergic to chlorine, so the doctor suggested not to play the sport. He admired his brother and started playing cricket because of him. His father taught him and his brother to play cricket and swim.

Career
- Domestic career-
Jalaj Saxena has made his debut in the 2005-06 Ranji trophy, he has shown notable performances over the years scoring 5000 runs and over 200 wickets. For the 2012-13 Ranji Trophy he took a lot of runs, so he was included in India A team because of the performance.
He played exceptionally well for India against Australia, and in consecutive matches. In the 2013-14, Ranji Trophy Saxena scored a huge amount of runs along with three five-wicket hauls. Saxena also took two ten-wicket hauls to finish the tournament as the highest wicket-taker.
He scored quite well in the 2014-15 Ranji season and he hit three centuries at an amazing average. In the match against Tamil Nadu, he again showed his vigor by performing exceptionally well.
For the year 2015, he made another record by taking a lot of wickets and gave fewer runs away. His performance was second highest in the Ranji Trophy history.
He was the leading wicket-taker in 2017-18, which led to his selection in 2018-19 Duleep trophy for India green.
In 2019, he was selected in India’s Blue squad for Duleep trophy. He performed notably that led to his selection in India C squad for Deodhar Trophy.
He was signed by Mumbai Indians in 2013, due to his spectacular performance. Jalaj has till now played for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals. Saxena will now play for Kings XI Punjab this year.
