Amit Panghal was born on 16th October 1995 in Rohtak, Haryana. His father is a farmer and his brother Ajay Panghal works in the Indian Army. Ajay was a former amateur boxer. This inspired Amit to pursue boxing as a career. He began training in 2007 at Chhoturam Boxing Academy. In 2009, Amit won the gold medal in the Junior National Boxing Championship, Maharasthra. In 2010, the boxer won silver in the Atlas Power Indian Junior National Boxing Championship, Haryana. In 2011, Panghal bagged the gold medal in the Senior Men Haryana State Boxing Championship, Haryana. He also clinched the gold in 2011, 2015, and 2016 editions.

Career
Amit began his professional career in 2017 and made his National debut at the National Boxing Championship. He won his career first gold medal in that match. In the same year, he made his international debut at the Asian Boxing Championship. He was brought to the limelight after claiming the bronze medal in the light flyweight category.
The Haryana pugilist made it to the 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships quarterfinals only to be defeated by Uzbekistan’s Hasanboy Dusmatov. In 2018, Panghal clinched the gold medal at the Strandja Cup in Sofia. He also bagged the silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in the 52 kg category. In 2019, he won the gold medal in the Asian Boxing Championship. In the same year, Amit became the first Indian Boxer to win a silver medal in the World Boxing Championships.
In 2020, Panghal qualified for Tokyo Olympics after a win over the Philippines’ Carlo Paalam. In the same year, Amit also won a gold medal in the Boxing World Cup, Germany. In 2021, the ace pugilist brought home the silver medal after winning the 31st Asian Amateur Boxing Championships, Dubai.
