Murali Sreeshankar was born on 27 March 1999 who lives in Palakkad, Kerala. His father S. Murali is a Indian Railway employee and the former triple jumper, his mother KS Bijimol is an 800metre runner and his sister Spreeparvathy is a Heptathlon.

Career

Murali Sreeshankar’s first coach was his father (former triple jump), Murali started practice of long jump at the age of 4. At small age, he decided to become an athletic. In the age of 13, he played some matches, State level Under 10 championship in 50m and 100m. After that, he focused on his study and also on his game.

He has jumped 7.99m at the Federation Cup in Patiala (2018). In 2018, he was the part of Commonwealth Games but had pull out 10 days before the matches. He went for surgery, after that his weight loss and unable to walk properly. After two month, he was the part of Asian Junior Athletics Championships (2018) where he has not much stamina after the illness but, won the bronze medal by jumping 7.47m.

In 2018, He participated in Asian Games Jakarta but he did not get any medal because he was on sixth final by 7.95m. After then, he again come with stronger in National open Athletics Championships (2018) there he broke the national record by jumping 8.20m. Indian players (Athletics) were qualify for the World Athletics Championship (2019) but, he failed to qualify for the final. He jumped 7.69m in qualifying round in 2020 Summer Olympics but failed to enter in final. Now, in 2022 Commonwealth Games, he became a first men to win silver medal in long jump for India.
