Wunmi Mosaku is a British actor from Nigeria. She is known for playing Joy in the BBC mini-series Two Moses Jones (2009) and Holly Lawson in the ITV Vera series (2011). Wunmi appeared in Luther’s fifth series in 2019. She appeared in the series Loki as Hunter B-15 in the year 2021.

Career

Wunmi debuted on stage at the Théâtre Arcola in a production of Pedro Calderon’s Grand Théâtre du Monde de la Barca. She featured in Rough Crossings under the direction of Rupert Goold. She began her career with the film The Women of Troy as Helen of Troy, directed by Phil Hawkins in 2006. In 2008, she took part in the National Portrait Gallery’s first exhibition, Underexposed, aimed at raising the profile of black models.

In 2009, she performed in BBC Two’s Mosses Jones series. That same year, she starred in a theater play Katrina, a drama based on Hurricane Katrina when it devastated New Orleans in August 2005. She originally starred as Sophie in the British premiere of Ruined by Lynn Nottage at the Almeida Theatre. 

Her 2010 films include Womb as Erica I Am Slave as Malia. In 2011, she starred in Citadel as Marie. She appeared in the Stephen Frears film Philomena playing the role of Young Nun in 2013. She appeared in various films like Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in 2016, Leading Lady Parts in 2018, Sweetness in the Belly in 2019, His House in 2020. 

Mosaku made her career debut as an actor in television with series Sold as Firefighter in 2007. In 2008, she appeared in movies like Never Better as Server, Doctors as Nurse Kelly Strathairn, The Bill as Sophie Oduya. She featured in the television series Moses Jones as Joy in 2009. Her 2010 series include Silent Witness as Charlie Gibbs, One Night in Emergency as Beautiful Nurse, Father, and Son as Stacey Cox, Law and Order: the UK as Tamika Vincent. In 2018, she starred in the mini-series Luther as DS Catherine Mercer.
