Meet Kate Cosentino, The season 23 contestant of ‘The Voice’

Kate Cosentino is an American Singer and Songwriter. She is best known for competing on Season 23 of NBC’s singing reality show “The Voice”, coached by Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, Chance the Rapper and Niall Horan. She is originally from Kansas City.

Who is Kate Cosentino?

Born and raised in Kansas City, Cosentino has been playing guitar and singing since she was in first grade. Her family’s good taste in music rubbed off on them, and when she was six or seven, she became obsessed with Hannah Montana and Guitar Hero 3. This inspired her to take up guitar lessons.

Two years later, in the third grade, she added on a voice teacher who introduced her to Regina Spektor. After hearing her music, she knew that writing and performing was her true purpose in life.

At 18, Cosentino was selected as one of nine performers across America chosen to write a song for the newest American Girl doll: Tenney.

Family

Cosentino belongs to a Italian family. She is daughter of Steve and Lea Cosentino and has a younger brother.

Kate Cosentino is engaged with Bennett Win. He is Nashville based video producer and photographer. The couple share news of their engagement on November 15, 2022 via an Instagram post.

Education

Career

Cosentino has always been drawn to powerful storytellers and melodic hooks since the start. Influenced by female musicians such as Regina Spektor, Norah Jones, Phoebe Bridgers, St. Vincent and more, her artistry was recognised by initiatives like the Nashville Ballet, Bluebird Cafe’s Emergence Series and the Johnny Mercer Foundation’s Songwriters Project.

She founded Big Chick Energy, a guitar strap company and was even awarded the Taco Bell Scholar award after achieving a wide range of accomplishments and objectives.

One of her greatest accomplishments is writing an original song for American Girl Doll’s character Tenney Grant, which is featured in the brand’s books, products and video game.

Her EP ‘Note to Self’ was released in May of 2022 and received praise from several outlets including Rolling Stone India.

Cosentino spends her leisure hours roller skating, endlessly scrolling TikTok, and fantasizing about becoming the first female band leader for a broadcast talk show.

Cosentino performed on Dionne Warwick’s “I Say a Little Prayer” during The Voice Blind Auditions got three chair turn from Chance the Rapper, Chance the Rapper and Kelly Clarkson. Later he decided to join Team Niall.

Music Influences

Cosentino has shared that Regina Spektor has been the biggest influence on their songwriting. They noted her unique and unapologetic lyrics and how she had a magical way of making her music emotionally impactful.

Additionally, Lianne La Havas has inspired her on guitar, having been one of the reasons why she studied jazz guitar. She further said,
