Vijay Shankar is an India cricketer born on 26 January 1991 in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, India. He hails from a family of cricketers so his family didn’t have any problem with his plans of becoming a cricketer.

Career
- Domestic career-
Vijay plays for his home team Tamil Nadu where he has been awarded two man-of-the-match awards in the knockout stages of the Ranji trophy.
He played a quarter-final match against Vidarbha where he scored a lot of runs. This match was a draw but the Tamil Nadu team made a lead in the series.
The next day in the semifinals against Mumbai he scored 91 runs and took two wickets against 47 runs winning the man of the match award. Unfortunately, this match has also declared a draw. But in his later match against Karnataka, he scored a century and took a wicket.
But few runs short Karnataka team took the Trophy.
In October 2018 he was in the C squad for playing Deodhar Trophy. He now showed his exceptional bowling skills claiming seven wickets in three matches. After this series, he became a part of the Ranji trophy team in 2018-19. Then later he was part of squad B for the same tournament.
He became part of Chennai Super Kings for one match in 2014 and later he played four matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2017. His batting run rate was higher against Gujarat Lions. Then he switched to Delhi Daredevils in 2018. But Sunrisers Hyderabad bought him again in 2019. He was named as one of the eight players who selectors took interest in.
International career
For this tour, he replaced Bhuvneshwar Kumar for the test series but couldn’t play in the match. Later he was selected for playing in T20 that took place in 2018 against Sri Lanka for Nidahas Trophy. Mushfiqur Rahim was his first dismissal in T20 format. In the next match for the same trophy, he took six wickets for just a few runs. And this performance won him the man of the match.
In the next tour, he replaced Hardik Pandya for the remaining matches in T20 against Australia. He also played a limited-overs series against New Zealand. And his debut in ODIs format was against this same team Australia on 18 January 2019.
Shankar was also part of the world cup that took place in April 2019. International cricket council recognized his talents and exceptional performance and named Shankar as a part of the surprise package. That could do wonders in the right place.
And he didn’t break the confidence the selectors had in him and took a wicket in his first bowl. This made the third player in Cricket history do so. But he couldn’t play further due to some injuries.
